College Teaching and Learning
The College core values of Tolerance, Community, Compassion , Achievement Respect and Integrity are reflected in our curriculum through the pursuit of deep learning supported by:
- the careful identification of theme based units
- establishing essential and guiding questions,
- providing relevant content and resources,
- negotiating common projects
- developing individual learning plans
- authentic ongoing assessment
- and supporting and valuing extra curricula programs and experiences
The College believes all students are entitled to an excellent education and a genuine opportunity to succeed in an ever changing world. We have an obligation to prepare our students to reach their potential and become independent adults.
This is achieved through
- the development of an integrated curriculum at years 7 and 8, delivered through theme and project based learning units.
- At Year 9 the learning experience centres on personal and social development and a move toward self directed learning through a community based Journey program.
- In Years 10 – 12 the emphasis is on developing productive pathways for students.
The Curriculum is delivered in a supportive and productive learning environment where the emphasis is on improving pedagogies with the expectations of rigour, relationships and relevance. Staff are guided by the Principles of Learning and Teaching POLT and developed through a formal coaching program.
In this way our students will become accountable, global, adaptable and knowledgeable.
