Role Statement
A Classroom teacher's primary focus is
the planning, preparation and teaching of programmes to achieve
specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in
critical reflection in order to improve knowledge and skills
to better engage students and improve their learning. The
classroom teacher will provide coherent and planned lessons
and learning activities; appropriate assessment and reporting
procedures; participate in other teaching related activities;
and perform additional duties allocated by the principal in
accordance with state system requirements and school council
policies.
Typical Duties
1. Undertake direct teaching of, and associated assessment
and reporting on groups of students and individual students as determined by the school
principal.
2. Undertake other non-teaching supervisory duties;
3. Participate in activities such as parent/teacher meetings,
staff meetings, camps and excursions, cultural events and
productions;
4. Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation
of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the
school;
5. Participate in school decision making processes and professional
development activities;
6. Undertake other classroom teaching related and organisational
duties as determined by the school principal.
