Welcome to Kambrya College.
At the end of 2011, Kambrya College completed its 10th year and it has a great deal to show for it!
Our College is establishing itself as a leading government school and has embedded a laser sharp focus on improvement in all areas. The points set out below bring to light the most salient features of our College.
Teaching & Learning:
Kambrya College offers a personalised approach to student learning. This means that our teachers know their students really well and use learning achievement data diagnostically to inform their teaching and differentiate the curriculum.
All teachers are organised into Professional Learning Teams in order to discuss and plan the most effective teaching strategies to improve student learning to a range of students with different needs.
Teachers use the powerful Student Performance Analyser database designed by Philip Holmes Smith to ensure that a broad range of student achievement data is readily available to all teachers.

The curriculum is planned, aligned with standards and assessment processes – are comprehensively organised in each of the Learning Domains.
Well resourced Literacy and Numeracy Programs are established at years 7 and 8 that focus on enhancing the skills of all students.
The High Achievers Program is established and flourishing at Years 7 to 10.
We have strong VCE and VCAL Programs that meet the needs and aspirations of our senior students.
We facilitate access to a broad range of Vocational Education Programs and school based apprenticeships which provide for students interested in careers in Sport, Hospitality, Building Trades, Dance, Media and other areas.
The College offers two languages (Japanese and German) as well as English as a Second Language. Vibrant sister school relationships have been set up with Schools in Japan and Germany.
Kambrya College is accredited to enrol international students.
A Sense of Belonging and Enjoyment at School:
- All students belong to one of the four Vertical Sub Schools and students work with a team of teachers while they are in Years 7 to 10.
- A very broad range of lunchtime activities are offered through the year.
- An excellent Camping/Excursion Program is offered to students:
- Year 7 Forest Edge, Neerim in Gippsland
- Year 8 Tasmania
- Year 9 Melbourne City Program
- Year 10 Central Australia Camp
- Year 12 Somers Study Camp
- Outstanding opportunities to develop student leadership with around 60 leadership positions offered each year including:
- School Captains
- Sub School Captains
- SRC Representatives
- Home Group Captains
Student leaders have substantial roles and responsibilities like organising and running school assemblies and participating in the decision making processes
of the College. Student leaders attend an annual leadership Camp where they undertake an intensive leadership development program.
Kambrya College can now draw on a substantial body of evidence to back the assertion that a quality educational environment is offered to students.
- VCE results have improved dramatically over the past 3 years. We rank in the top 30% of schools in the Southern Metropolitan Region.
- Very high success rates in the VCAL program. Destination data shows that almost every student leaves the College with a valuable qualification.
- VCE results have improved dramatically over the past 3 years. We rank in the top 30% of schools in the Southern Metropolitan Region.
- Our NAPLAN data for students at Year 9 shows that the College adds value or learning growth at a rate greater than the State average in Literacy and Numeracy.
Ongoing improvement is expected.
- Further evidence that the general tone, processes and structures at Kambrya College are effective can be found in the DEECD Student, Staff and Parent Opinion Survey.
Over the past three years there has been a strong trend towards improvement across all areas of each survey.
While this evidence is most welcome, it is universally accepted that there is no room for complacency. All school data is closely examined by the school community with
a view to building teacher capacity, refining school processes and improving the College in all areas. The College is open to new strategies and approaches that may bring
about improvement.
Kambrya College is indeed, a vibrant learning community!
Thank you for your interest in our College.
